changed... I don't know how to find out whether the rip is CBR, VBR or ABR, so I just steal from Wall's original thread:P

check bitrate column in iTunes, Winamp, foobar.. basically any soft other than real player and classic media player.

yes, you can. In wmp - under Bit rate column (almost to the extreme right) if it says 320 kbps, then its CBR. If the bit rate is around 250ish (between 220 and 275) it is VBR. You can also right click on each file and go to properties to check the bit rate (instead of sliding to the right)

Ahhhh!!! Now I see. So whenever bitrate between 220-275, I should always assume it's VBR? and what about CBR?

Also, I just checked Woh Lamhe's details in regular media player. It showed me 320kbps even for all the tracks and didn't mention no CBR.

right in most cases (there can also be 256 CBR or 224 CBR). vbr can go as low as 32 kbps, thats why wmp is not such a good player to check these properties. download foobar2000; it rockz!

it wont say "CBR" or "VBR"
CBR itself means constant bit rate, and in this case it is 320 kbps CBR. wmp will tell u the bit rate, wont state if it cbr or vbr.
