I agree with 48hrs wait but not with 4GB. Because this only targets users with little upload. Once 4GB uploaded, then upto you wether you seed or not. Or just sit and keep downloading latest releases of GB's and upload only few MB's.

DcTorrent wants users to seed, there are many other ways to make people seed:
* Ratio of 1.00+ or wait 48hrs
* Ratio of 2.00+ or wait 24hrs
* If you are in Hall of Shame of 3 or 5 torrents then you will have to wait 48hrs

Just restricting someone because of Upload limit is not enough to make people seed. Instead restricting because of ratio will force people to seed from day one till the day they use DC to maintain ratio. There are users with UL of 4gb+ but not good ratios. Uploading any specific amount of data is not a big deal, but maintaining the ratio is.

Most of the old users at DC have UL of 4gb+, and once active new users cross the 4gb ( which should not take more than a week) then what? Again, everyone will be able to download latest releases, no matter wether you seed or not.

[I am new to torrent world, so dont know enough about ratio's and all, you can set these limits/numbers as you want. I just gave an example.]

but if ur ratio is below .6 then you get a warning to improve it above .6 and if u dont, you get banned ..

I started yesterday, I am already at 5GB UL and 10GB download. Intial movie download are skewing my ratio but in a day I should be ok as I am uploading at 150MBPS

Man i came to download TZP and thought abt seeding it for a while to maintain ratio, but how can i upload if i haven't downloaded anything, my max down speed is 7kbps and up speed is 5-6kbps, i mean how can i download and then upload 4gb, it would take me a week and then another 2 days to download the movie.....thank you....but i will move to a public tracker

man i was starting to like this place, but my torrent has been waiting for the last 3 hours without downloading anything.............maybe this place is only for people with faster connections

i have got a ratio above 1 and uploaded 34gb still when i download a movie the tracker status shows failure access denied , wait time in effect
pls let me know wats the problem
effect time is for only ppl who have uploaded less than 4gb.

i have uploaded for more than 20 hrs and its over at least 2 gigs by estimate. My upload still shows UL: 136.13 MB for last 12 hrs i have signed on???? what is happening?

Hi, i am a newbie on DC, how can i keep up my ratio?? there are things that i would like to download but with no peer to seed to.... how can i keep up my ratio on that sense, can anyone give me a tip or two??? also is there a credit system that i can earn?? on IPT if i continue to seed, even if no one is seeding i can get a 0.4 credit per hour per torrent that i am seeding, and then i can trade 250 points for a 5GB upload credit. is there a such thing like that.

the rule should be modified a bit
as there is problem for everyone in downloading
even i have 1.39 ratio and 34gb upload still i cant download.

what error are you getting?

caz I see you downloaded no smoking from music section and you are uploading it..

There are so many questions about this 4 GB rule from Noobies that the ADMINs/MODs stopped answering them. My suggestions would be to collect those qestions/inquiries/complains etc from this thread and create another thread with the proper satisfactory (to Noobies) answers.
