OP is himself replying to other ppl asking for SP1 that he is asking something wrong ., but himself posted problem in wrong section.,.

cific , ^^ kya reply karein ...

this is very computer specific problem... how can someone reply over the net without seeing / testing the hardware...

all i can say is , try booting up ur lappy with some other processor .. as to me looks like u burned / broke something ...

read / search compaq forums... as there might be some debuggin info ie number of beeps / some blinking LCDs etc ... as u need to do diagonisis to find root cause of problem...

Is it even going via BIOS and reaching HDD ? if yes then chances are ur RAM and processor are in good shape...

if not then either ur processor or MB is gone ..

Hi Blackstone,

In a car if something breaks down, the first thing the Mechanic tries to do is:
Repeat symtom by causing it again and them....he can stick in his OBDII diagnostic connector and hopefully giveself a starting point.

So....you want to cause your issue again...???

The Light Pattern you described is VERY Similar or exactly like Sleep Mode.
So....put your computer in sleep mode and see if this is the cause.

Can you casue this problem again....and how?

Also, If I read correctly, this can be only 1 other issue.
You have a Grounding issue......you sure you put a right size screw in the right places...?
I have seen this before....

a Few questions also?

1) When this occurs on your computer.....Can you hear the Hard Drive go into Park?
2) If the Fan still working or not?
3) The First thing that usually breaks on Laptops is the DC Power conector.
How is yours...Lose or Good and strong and MUST have some resistance when you plug it in?

4) Do you have or can you test with another power supply?...seen this before too.
5) What Processor did you take out and what Processor did you put back in? Upgrade perhaps?
6) Did you add any other Hardware in the last 6 Months?

I look forward to your responses.
Take Care

Change the CPU. else you'll soon loose your motherboard also. using a cpu with broken pins is always risky.

He stated that he did change the CPU because the Pins were bent and broken.

The same problem happened to my PC as well but it had nothing to do with the processor, the tech guy said it was a capacitor problem,it just cost $5 to fix it,my PC was shut down for a week but its completely fine after the fix.
