Now its a well known fact that ISP like Airtel,BSNL etc are throttling Bittorrent traffic.
Right now i am downloading a U.Me.Aur.Hum.2008.1CD.Pre-DVDRip.XviD.Subs.xDR 90seeds and 5leachers. Availability: 62.993 Seeder to leacher ratio:18 so i am sure i can get max of it but i only get around 193kBps. whereas in http download i easily reach 217kBp to 222kBps. so i am not getting my full speed here. i also have Encryption enabled. ISP: BSNL Broadband Plan: Home 500 Client: Deluge 0.5.8.9 Os: Ubuntu 8.04 So What to do about throttling by an ISP? Last edited by gary4gar; 05-13-2008 at 10:29 PM. |

I don't think that ur ISP is throttling ..... I am using Airtel with no problems.
Also there is no specific news of BSNL throttling bittorrent data. - Goto Code:
Speedtest.net - Are your ports forwarded ?? are u connectable ?? - Do u employ any kind of IP banner/filter . - Do u get similar speeds for all sorts of torrents ... i mean from different places. |

* Yes, ports are forwarded.
* No IP banner/filter employed * Yeah, my speeds in bittorrent are always lower than HTTP Source - http://torrentfreak.com//images/vuze...in-results.pdf All the major Indian ISPs - BSNL, VSNL, Reliance, Airtel are in that list. |

Well, Torrentfreak is a renowned site but i highly doubt the authenticity of the survey u showed ....
Many of my frnds(including me) are using BSNL,MTNL,Airtel ... there were no cases of throtlling. wasie, u can try the steps provided here ..... Tracker Status Offline (Timed Out) - Read This these are good and close to optimum settings .... Waise, tell me 1 thing ..... if ur ISP is Throtlling the y are they limiting ur connection from 222kbps to 193 kbps .... y not less .... or y not a total ban |

The survey is done why Azureus, which again is very popular client.

- YH... i read all their coomments, articles, letters to ISP's etc etc .... but no where they have specified that the data they are showing is 100% correct ...
about your question ... i already answered it in my previous post ..... many of my frndz (including me) have been using Airtel, BSNL, MTNL for a long time ..... and there are no signs of throttling for any 1 of us ..... i confirmmed this with all of 'em. -Also no India ISP has been mentioned here Code:
Bad ISPs - AzureusWiki Read everything mentioned here. Also u still haven't posted ur speedtest result and u haven't tried what i suggested you above. Also check the below link to check whether ur ISP is throttling or not ..... ^^ This is still NOT perfect ..... i just found it and thot of shring it with you. So its results are not 100% dependable. Waise bhi, if u think that ur ISP is throttling then change ur ISP ..... PS : all tehse are just something i found .... you are alwayz welcomed to question these. |

Most ISP's throttle at between 4pm and 10pm here in the UK.
Try getting cable connection, always get up 900 kb/s depending on seeders. HTTP I always get 1150 KB/s anytime. I am on Be Unlimited, contention ration of 1:1. Last edited by raswok; 05-16-2008 at 07:39 AM. Reason: wrong unit |

Hey gary4gar
Have considered how Many connections you connecting to? ie: ISP download is good because you are only connecting to 1 BIG PIPE. Bit is not good, because you are connecting to many small Pipes. ok... Now ask yourself.....How Many Pipes, can you computer connect to at once? I bet 10. Look up Half open TCPIP Connections and edit you TCPIP.sys and try this: Increase Your U-Torrent Download Dl/Ul Speed Maxed Take Care DN Opps....before writing the above...I did not notice you stated Ubunto... Ok, so how many connections does ubunto allow? I am at a lose at the moment, if this does give you a new avenue to explore, please let me know.
