I don’t know what is happening, my “ Utorrent “ is crashing for no apparent reason, I upgraded to 1.7.6. But still the same problem, and when he crashes, I always have to restart my computer, if you can help me to resolve this problem. Thank you

After crash, go to task manager (Alt + Ctrl + Del) and kill the utorrent process hanging around... You might not need to reboot everytime..

First of all, close utorrent, wait for a min or two (as it is sending tracker info to servers).... make sure utorrent process is all gone (as mentioned above)..... then try deleting all utorrrent meta data and reinstall fresh copy of utorrent.... You have to redo utorrent settings but it will be a clean install of new utorrent...

Common metadata location :
C:\Documents and Settings\****\Application Data\uTorrent

If it doesn't help :
Try downgrading to 1.6.1 as it was very stable release...

Did you do any windows upgrade or something specific you tried to download ??

I will not recommend downgrading utorrent. In fact, it is recommended for everyone to upgrade to the latest version 1.7.6. As all other utorrent versions are vulnerable to remote exploit.

1.6.1 is the most stable version till now.

I din’t do any changes in Windows, the crash started just after or almost at the same time when the server of Dct went down last Sunday January 13, and since then the crash continue. In task manager, there no trace of Utorrent, and when I restart the computer, the system will display a message saying, “ This program is not responding “ End Now… » Thank you

It seems like u r hitting long string crash of pre 1.7.5 utorrent versions... and after u upgraded you are still using older meta data so....

did u Delete and restart utorrent ?
C:\Documents and Settings\****\Application Data\uTorrent

After deletion, dowload fresh client from utorrent site.. run it...

If you wanna play safer.. .download some registry cleaner and check for instances of torrent in registry (i doubt it as utorrent is not an installer but a stand alone program)...

lemme know if it helps or else i will dig further deep...

If I delete all this, " C:\Documents and Settings\****\Application Data\uTorrent " all my torrent will be still there without any problem??

u can save *.torrent to some other locations .. or don't delete them at all...

i m more concerned about resume and settings files.. so delete those *dat*, *old* ...

I deleted what you suggested, and I make a " Find registry " of Utorrent and deleted all theses registry, I re-install 1.7.6 and now on we will see what is happening. Thank you very much and if there is anything else happened, I will let you know, since I feel at home on DcT.

just curious, can you open windows explorer (My computer) and browse around easily ?

If you still face problem (non-responding of utorrent) then you need to fix windows...As this is not utorrent crash... Everytime you restart computer, utorrent does the recheck of all data ... and it is time consuming and slow process ... As it does lots of seeks to hard disk (slowest part of computer)... So one needs to be patient if you have lots of torrents in ur client...

or u can try stopping all torrents in utorrent and starting them one by one...

this is what makes it crash if all the torrents are active at the instant when it crashes.

it increases the memory for the porocess which makes it crash and free tht memory.

You can remove the old drama torrents , that have 0 leechers/peers.... As if no one is downloading it, why to even burden bechara utorrent...

As after some time all that data will cause u running out of ur hard disk on computer.. So you need to clean up old stuff that you have watched ... people generally don't download old dramas.. so they are the best bet to be removed

God Save your Utorrent.... What else you expect from it with 700+ torrents in it... It is even unable to create mem dump...

Even they hadn't done that much stress testing of their release... It might be good idea to go to utorrent forums and report this as bug ... either they will say we don't supprort that much of load... or will give you contract for stress testing of their next release....
