Hi Guys,

I been a gr8 fan of the Desi 9 , simply cuz of the reason that the work done regarding the TV rips for various shows is really awesome.
The quality provided is really high and a treat for the fans.

However i got 3 questions regarding the popular Comedy Circus:


1) Why arent the size of the various espisodes consistent ?
i mean the size varies with the episodes, why is that so ? If u guys can try to get some uniformity there, then that wd be gr8.

2) The usual size of a movie which is abt 90 mins long is abt 700MB
the episodes are abt 51 mins long and are touching the 600MB mark.

i have seen few episodes around abt 450MB which seems befitting.
BUT.. if the quality has to be compromised to shrink the size, i am fine with the ~600MB episode.
Just was curious to ask though.


3) There are few episodes Like 14th episode:
Comedy Circus - 14th June - HQ - XviD - Desi9
Which shd have been in the dedicated Comedy Circus 2 thread, and is not.
another one like this (31st May), same is the case with that one too.

I had a tough time trying to locate the torrents.. and mite have nearly missed out on them wen i didn found them in the Comedy Circus thread.. Still am looking for June 07th episode..
Mods Pls look into this.

may be the wrong section.....but not wrong points at all. very very valid points. I've been thinking about posting this same stuff too since a long time.

TV torrents have come a long way in DC....hats off to teams like D9

But we are yet to mature in a lot of ways....

everyone posts in their on ways as they like....inconsistencies in episode sizes...inconsistencies in formats and resolutions...

I don't like to ape the west....but definitely we are lagging behind a bit here....

I download a lot series from the US.....and i'm just amazed how professionally they do this piracy

1. All episodes of 1 hour ( 42 mins odd seconds minus commercials ) are of 350 mb. 30 min episodes are of 175 mb. This is so brilliant . fit 2 one hour eps on a Cd or 4 30 min eps.

2. 99% of the series from the US which I have downloaded are encoded in divx format here . At DC,we have divx,wmv, mp4 and what not.Way too many format we have. There must be a standard (one particular group posts popular US sitcoms in xvid asd format which is a compressed to 1:3 in size but there's poor video)

3. Following are the specs I have observed for these videos:
frame height:352
frame width: 624
Frame rate: 23 fps
most videos range between 1100 to 1200 kbps in bitrate.

By following such conventions i guess they are to limit to same size for every episode that comes out.

4. As soon as a series completes one season...they a post a single torrent for the entire season. This is so so useful for ppl who catch up late on a popular series. They can download seasons at once rather than lookin around for each ep of each season.

We have some pro teams here now who know how to rip. I think its time to raise the bar further and provide much more quality content. DC can lead the way as being the 1st desi site to do this....

Teams like D9 can have a look at the rips published by popular western teams like LOL,FQM,2HD etc.

Oh so you want the tv rips to be like dvd rips? The dvd rips are properly scripted n take a lot of time to encode.

Desi9 team duz like a lot of HQ rips on daily basis .. And if they lower the bitrate quality will go down for sure (if not proper scripted)

my my my , your comparing the scene with p2p lmfao ! do u even know how much $$ groups like LOL and DSR make in hardware donations and workstations(1 gb line workstations ( beast servers !! ) ) alone ?

those groups also do this professionally , why ? cuz they end up making HUGE profits ! p2p or websites arent the only place where online piracy exists

also the release setup rules which u just pasted , i only have one word to say = BS !

why should we @ p2p and @ desi9 follow sh!t scene tdx rules ? whilst we dont give a sh!t about them nor do they

also as far as tech specs are concerned , they have HD STREAMS AND CAPTURES TO WORK ON , true 1080p and 720p telecast's to work on which the captures themselves are off a minimum of 20 odd gb with a minimum bitrate of 15 MB ~ , so yeah u can imagine what sort of a source they get to work on , whilst our poor desi channels still broadcast signal's which keep breaking even on dish tv and cable !

also those groups have a minimum of 50 odd member's EACH , and they also only work on one show only once a week , most of the english shows are as such , so they only have to work what 4-5 times a week , whilst what i can tell u is that @ desi9 the number of rippers can be counted on fingers less then a handful , who rip around 3-4 drama's each DAILY , upload them , release them and then archive them , so yeah its already this much dedication and of what it takes to get all of u ppl these drama's and those also for free and most of all RATIO FREE !!

what else does one need ?

i do agree on the format part to a certain extent though , xvid , wmv , mp4 and all , well again comes in the problem of consistency , but still do remember , u get all the drama's u need , in good quality so yeah .. let me put it simple for u ,

for groups like LOL , DSR , 2HD etc the ripping process is like this ->

capture @ minimum 15 MB ~ HD(1080p/720p) as a .TS file or .mpeg file , make a d2v from that , script it in avisynth , calculate bitrate and all , and then rip in vdub/gordianknot/megui/whatever , mux the video and audio ( encoded audio if needed) , pack in rar's , make .sfv file and then release on servers ( the scene !)

^^ max what only they do handful of times a month on specific sources .

desi9 : capture , capture , capture and more capture ! ( encode into dvdr/xvid/mp4/x264/mkv ) when required , release , release , release , release and more release DAILY ! and most of all still live thier own REAL WORLD life's DAILY !

P.S : minimum of 4 drama's almost each daily on every ripper

i know the thing up there has a bit of sarcasm , but still it is a truth , end of the day desi9 people are humans as well , they lead real lives as well , all this is just a past time and passion , so yeah we should be happy of what we have instead of b!tching around

no hard feelings against u its just that we should also think about how we get stuff and what people do for us to make us get it ! that also for absolutely nothing and almost daily !

end of the day it is ur input which matter's and that is one of the core reasons which helps an individual/team to improve , people who always strive for success , so yeah for ur input

Sure supply them with necc. hardware & they will be up to the par with scene standards

Dvd Rip movies r 640x272 REs n bit rate of 550-700 ( OutPut Size 700 MB)

Desi9 Rips r 512x384 Res n BitRate of 1100-1200 ( We @ Desi9 Try to hav 10 Mb/Min Video Aprox 2 mentain Quality )

Some Times Res is 560x416 which makes da Size even more bigger

Rippers Rip on Diff Location n Diff Pc Confi ( encoding takes 2-6Hrs )

Last Not Da Least IF Users Supply Us with New Hadware n We Can Make Rules n Follow Them

ok guys....I hope I dint hurt D9 with my comments...I totally appreciate the work they do and I'm totally grateful to this team...thanks to them I never miss my fav shows

on the retrospective, my comments do look a bit immature....I did not capture the fact that we don't get HD streams and also we're tight on the hardware as well.

But what I'd still like to see is that may be D9 can come up with its own rules....as ghonchu said, we dont care abt them and they don;t abt us. lets not ape them and copy SCENE's guidelines but we can frame our own set of guidelines....right?? That will definitely bring in more consistency. I mean...we should be immediately be able to identify as soon as we see a clip..."oh yeah...thats a D9 rip".

We can set some basic rules for sizes and formats. I atleast strongly believe that the releases should only be in 1 format. ( me is a great fan of divx and would prefer all releases in this format).

So...let me conclude by saying that I don't want to see you guys follow the SCENE guidelines but come up with your own and add another "star" on your shoulders

@Ghonchu....i don't think LOL works only 4-5 times a week....they definitely release lot more shows. I dont follow any of the dailies from US. But I follow loads and loads of weeklies. Those r some kick a$$ shows. Waiting for the day when our desi ones will scale up to that level check out this site called eztv.it and you'll be pleasantly shocked to see what kind of effort goes behind releasing each TV episode. Almost all shows I watch are up on this site within 30mins of it being aired in the US.
