You need to have an internal or USB tv tuner card for that.

i think you mean how can you record TV programs .... right ??

For that You need
- a TV tuner card(Preferably approved by microsoft if u using windows)
- You need to confirm that you get Cable Connection directly from the Amplifier and to the max only ONE Split in the connection
- Then you need to install that card and start recording from there ...

Also please elaborate on what exactly you want to do .

i got a cable called easy cap which i can view my sky plus but which is the best software to make xvid rip from live capture.

For TV rips go for DivX ....
Virtual Dub would be good for ripping.....
Select the Video and Audio codecs of ur choice from there and start ripping.
