Default Have issues with audio when burned onto a DVD

Hi,

I am having audio issues when the DVD-Rip files (as a Data DVD - because my DVD player can support/play DivX files). Often time, there's no audio, sometimes there's no sync between the audio and the video. The movie getting "stuck" is also a fairly common phenomenon.

Now I burn 3 movies onto one DVD (I thin they call these DVD5s), but the problem isn't inherent in all 3 of these movies (often times one of them works perfectly fine).

But they play perfectly on my PC (using VLC Player). So I'm assuming this is a problem with the DVD Player.

The DVD Player I have is a Philips DVP3140 Compact DVD Player.

Is there anything I can do to rectify the problem?

Thanks.

Have you tried using a different brand of DVD to burn the movies?

Hmm, no. Currently I use Windata. What brand do you recommend?

You dvd player doesn't support data files/divx files. What you need to do is use a software to make a dvd file from your original source. What i do is when i download a 700mb avi file from anywhere, i use winavi or xtodvd convertor to make that file into a dvd file. Convertxtodvd automatically burns that file to a blank dvdr that i insert in my dvd drive. Converting avi to dvd format takes more space in the dvd. So, i take two 700mb rips or one 1.36gb rip and merge it using convertxtodvd (again it does it automatically). The rest is simle. You can use many softwares to merges avi files than convert into a dvd. This often takes more than 4.7gb and to solve this i use dvd shrink(its free) to burn into a dvd. I hope this assists you with your problem.

That's odd...the amazon site mentions it supporting DivX and it does a fine job supporting some of the movies

Anyway, thanks for the tip

Thanks for the confirmation about DivX compatibility killer.

I recent burned Dil Chahta Hai, Kal Ho Naa Ho and Bunty Aur Babli.

For Dil Chahta Hai, the sync goes out during the first few moments of the movie, the second CD has no audio, similar problem with Kal Ho Naa Ho (audio goes out during the opening shot of The Statue of Liberty - so it's out of sync).

But Bunty Aur Babli came out fine.

Previously, I've had problems with the second CD of Don (audio out of sync)

hmmm..

do one thing... use gspot to check out which audio codecs are used for working n non working videos.. may be ur dvd player is picky in that area...

edit :
one more thing... u can try burning at 1x (u can use dvd decrypter to burn at any speed)... it does work for xbox games... as at times ... data burned at high speed is not easily read by stand alone players..
