if you are using a BroadBand connection at your home and using Windows Xp as your Operating System, and you feel that your BroadBand speed is a bit less, then in that case you have the option to increase your Broadband speed upto 20%.
1. First of all make sure you are logged in as Administrator. 2. Go to Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc , Press OK. 3. Then go to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> QOS packet Scheduler. 4. On the right it will give you the option of Limit Reservable bandwidth, open and and select Enabled, and change the value from 20 to O. thx to bigboss |

hmm... pretty old .. i doubt this will help anyone....
i think using any online test and utorrent speeds you get rough idea how fast is ur net... and those run on windows... and those matches with speed advertised by ISP... so doesn't that mean that windows/utorrent is getting / using full share of internet... QOS - Quality Of Service packet scheduler will come into picture when you are sending some info back to MS servers .. ie if some program crashes... and it will use 20% of ur bw then .... You can totally disable it in performance section (rt click my computer -> properties -> advanced --> performance) no harm in that... as it is not permanent... most of times.. setting something to 0 , corresponds to unlimited... some MS coder can throw light into these values... but as always... i suggest to everyone.. dont play alot with windows settings except your msconfig to configure ur startup processes ( that only if you know what you are disabling)... 99% of ppl end up doing more harm to OS than to do any betterment... |
