Okay guys, I just got a new laptop that runs on Windows Vista Home Premium, my old computer runs on windows xp and I was wondering how I would share an internet between them?
My laptop knows that there is a wireless connection(mine) available but when I connect it says limited connectivity and the net won't work. My old computer is the one that is running the connection Any tips? |

Give me more info.
But, upto my knowledge it has nothing to do with you laptop. Let me make my self clear. You do have a wireless router that would allow you to share your internet connection. Am I on the right page. Well, I hope so. Any ways, usually when it shows "limitted or no connectivity" if you run ipconfig command in the command prompt. You will find out its a 169.254.--.--- some ip address with one six nine for sure this will only be the case for your wlan adapter or your wireless ethernet connection not sure what brand laptop is it or else I would have mentioned it word to word. Basic trouble shooting tips 1-try to turn off and turn back on the switch. 2-try to repair the wireless network connection 3-try to change the channel of the wifi network this is inside the routers gui 4-obviously powercycle everything. 5-Also, this works a lot change the ssid name or the wireless network name from your router in your router. Furthermore, if this all dosn't work letme know and if you can update the thread with what kind of wifi adapter you have or wireless adapter. ![]() This is where you will find your wireless adapter it will be mentioned under network adapter. And, oops the question how to get here. It makes it easy for me to explain. Go to start in the search bar type in Device Manager hit enter. It shud bring up the permission box hit allow or contine you should be there. I will hit back on this next for next. I trouble shoot wireless connections a lot with Verizon DSL Tech support no I am not in India like a normal call centre person would be lol. I am a supervisor and verizon supposedly has a contract of making sure that supervisors or acting ones are in USA lol sounds sarcastic lol. |
