you need a Firewall to block Software. How do you want to Block Software? Premiumseeder is correct, we need more Informations to give you a good answer :-)

To block outgoing connections, the XP Firewall should be enough for you. If you want outgoing AND ingoung Traffic and so Programms you need the integrated Firewall of Windows Vista.

But as you know, don't believe our Friend Gates and try it with a third Party Tool like Zone Alarm or something.

do u wnt to block softwares to connect to internet..... like software updates,etc...
else just install McAfee, it will alert u when there is a change in any registery, itz firewall helps u block those software which connect to internet....

u need to elaborate what u want to block .....

i think kaspersky is best and zone alarm is also this is perfect combination

or if u prefer freebie......AVAST HOME + ZONEALARM/COMODO FIREWALL
