Earlier this year ., i tried its beta drop v2 .... had issues with plugins ie downloadAll and google toolbar.,,,
today i installed it on my test machine... it is working like charm.,. no bugs yet... look has been changed ie buttons images i felt that memory usage has been optimized... it uses less mem than its predecessor... i heard that bookmark rating has been kool (like google page rank)... but i never tried any of those... so in short... my say is ., ,go for it ., . it is nice release ., and worth 3years of developers work/effort |

I was using the beta version earlier and had some plugins and add on problems.
I no longer have the problem after I downloaded the official release. It doesn't look really different, though it does have some changes in the icons I noticed that when i type something in the address bar it brings up all the matches from the bookmark list as well as the websites visited (earlier it was only website visited). I havent yet figured out if that's helpful or annoying at times. Well Firefox still rocks so I wud recommend downloading it. And its said to be faster too. As of now 37 people from Nepal have downloaded it and I am one of them. Feels great. My mom always wanted me to have my name on the Guinness World Record so this is for you mom |

Wow , downloaded today, startup time has certainly improved. The address bar is just as they call it - Awesome bar !!!
New anti-phishing features intigrated, and of course, cool new back/forward button. firefox rocks, officially best browser now, spread the news Edit - (after 5-6 hrs of using) - Well .... the the above was initial excitement, now that I have more experiance with it, here is what I feel - Pros - Address Bar performs smart search on history n bookmarks using tag words as you type - looks cool but kind of bulky too but certainly best new feature. Improved start up time. Web site info and Anti-Phishing feature integrated, though most websites don't provide(support) much info yet but maybe in the future, anyway Anti-Phishing is cool. Bookmark tagging system, haven't used much but looks like a nice concept. Bookmark organiser nice too. Download manager n addons manager are supposed to be improved ( though I can't see much difference ) Cons - I know there is a whole new rendering engine n its supposed to be so light on memory n stuff, but I felt none of that except from the faster startup. Actually I have seen a lot of instances when CPU jumps to 100% n jitters follow. Scrolling some pages may cause excessive cpu usage n frame loss in scrolling animation (just as in FF2). Also while at pages with flash, shockwave , flv - youtube etc. I experienced too much CPU usage n jitters in video playback / flash animation etc. ( but that might be because I was on a P4 2.8g, but still ... FF2 was better Ctrl +/- zooming applies to all tabs from same site in window, I don't think that happenend earlier ( or is that a pro ?) All good themes are incompatible with v3 as of now, those that are available either aren't stylish or dont implement the new cool back/forward combo button well. I hope most of these will be corrected with first few autoupdates, and I also installed a SmoothWheel extension for scrolling (I would like to think it is helping But I like it enough that I am still writing all this in FF3 only. Firefox 3 downloads hit 8 million despite server crash
Mozilla yesterday became a victim of its own Page Ranking stunt as millions of eager users crashed the company?s servers 15 minutes before the scheduled release time for Firefox 3. Despite the initial hiccup, however, they recovered and managed to deliver more than 8 million copies of the popular open source browser in a 24 hour period. Mozilla will make the record books for the most software downloaded in one day, seeing as the category is new and there?s really no Guinness World Record to beat, but the 8 million download number is still a notable achievement. There?s a big difference between just downloading Firefox 3 and actually making it your primary browser, but (very) early statistics show the browser is spreading fast. According to Net Applications, which monitors browser usage at major websites, Firefox 3 claimed more than 4 percent share of web browser usage less than 24 hours after its release. |
